Dusty & his self-built mobile tiny home!
Hey, I'm Dusty.
Conscious Housing blends the two things I care about most: building a more connected part of society and creating affordable, sustainable housing. I built my own tiny home because I was sick of rent and wanted a better life—and it made me realize how much potential tiny homes have in helping solve the housing crisis and the loneliness epidemic.
My journey with community started at UMass Amherst, where I first experienced deep, meaningful connection. It opened my heart and gave me friendships I never knew were possible.
Years later, I moved to Boston during the pandemic. The city felt cold—people weren’t just distant, they were afraid of each other. I quit a job I couldn’t stand and started Connected City Social Club to change that. We hosted live music shows, drum circles, meditations, beach volleyball—anything to bring people together. And it worked. That look people get when they finally drop their guard and connect to something greater—that’s when I knew I was onto something important, and had also found my life’s purpose.
I co-founded a nonprofit, Collective Effervescence, to keep it going. But I realized I needed to go bigger. Community needed a home—and housing was the way in. It’s where people spend most of their money and most of their lives. I saw that by making housing more affordable, I could also fund real connection.
That’s where Conscious Housing began.
We’re using tiny homes—the most affordable, sustainable housing option out there—alongside a community campus built to bring people together and create lives that are happier, healthier, and better for the planet.
Thanks for being here. Hope to see you in one of our communities.
